The Diary of a Shapeshifter project was conceived of in mid to late 2021, though the first “chapter” was written and recorded in June of 2020.  The common conceptual thread running through all of the pieces that have been written and will be written for this project is a shifting perception of the primary pulse of any given composition.

For the non-musician: in the simplest of terms, the pulse would be the beat to which a listener naturally taps their foot when hearing a piece of music.

For the musician: the primary mechanism by which I shift the perception of pulse is the introduction of dotted notes that move in and out of predominance over the top of the quarter/eighth feel.

As of the writing of this page (Jule 25, 2022) I have begun composing the third peice and have no estimated time for completion.
